The sad fact of the matter is that some infants can actually get infected with herpes as soon as they are born from the mother as the come out into the world. Ensuring that you are not suffering from anything that might otherwise cause this type of issue to occur is therefore critical to make certain you are giving you child the best chance at life.

Unlike the birthing process, you should let your doctor know if you plan on breast feeding though, as the active ingredient known as valacyclovir is one that can actually be ingested by the child through a mothers milk glands.

As you can imagine with its also damaging effect Valtrex is not the kind of drug that is safe to give to a child unless you have received specific medical advice to do so.

Getting a prescription

If and when you are written a prescription it is highly recommended that you follow the dosing regimen that gets printed on the bottle itself. This is not the type of drug that has to be taken with food so unless you simply forget, there should be no reason to not take it when you are supposed to. If you DO happen to forget one of your doses, it is recommended that you just skip it and wait until the next dosing time comes around.
