Introducing Addyi!
Flibanserin – brand name Addyi – is the one and only FDA-approved non-hormonal pill to treat women with Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD), a condition that affects 10% of women even before the age of menopause.
Many females in loving, committed relationships find that they want to experience sexual desire and may even feel inadequate about their low level of arousal. Not only can their disorder cause obvious relationship difficulties that plague so many women with HSDD, it can also contribute to low self-esteem and a feeling that something is missing in the partnership or even wrong with the woman herself! In days past, this could cause the breakdown of families and all sorts of self-blame but there is finally a solution available!
Potential Side-Effects
Those who use Flibanserin should be aware that it could potentially cause side-effects. The most common are: tiredness, dizziness, difficulty falling or staying asleep, dry mouth, and nausea.
Serious side-effects may occasionally occur. You should watch out for low blood pressure or fainting, and this risk is higher if the medication is taken during waking hours. Do not drink alcohol when taking Addyi, and let your doctor know about any medications, herbs, or supplements.
Is Addyi Right for Me?
Addyi is for women who have experienced frustratingly low sexual desire for at least six months or longer. If a woman is happy with her level of sexual interest, she does not need to seek treatment. Flibanserin should be used in cases where HSDD causes stress and frustration, and the individual experiencing symptoms wants to change her situation and enjoy sex more frequently, and with enthusiasm!
Some individuals are opposed to the idea of increasing the sexual desires of women but this thinking is rooting in outdated stereotypes about what the female libido is ‘supposed’ to be like. Historically, the sexual desires of women have been ignored, repressed, and even outright shamed, but no longer! As women achieve greater social equality, they are now in a groundbreaking new position to seek out sexual equality as well.
While Addyi can be a blessing to women who want to “get their groove back”, it is not designed for men or postmenopausal women. If lack of sexual desire is due to abuse of drugs or alcohol, relationship problems, side effects of other medications, or mental illness, unfortunately Addyi is not the solution to those problems.
Speak with your doctor to find out if Flibanserin is right for your personal situation.
How Much Does Addyi Cost?
For the first 60 days, Addyi does not have any out-of-pocket cost, even without insurance! This is a limited offer and may be subject to change, and does not apply to patients with Medicare, Medicaid, or other government-funded insurance plans.
After the introductory period is over, the prescription will never be more than $99 per month, and could be as cheap as $25 per month, depending upon your insurance coverage. That’s less than one dollar per day for a woman who wants to take back control of her libido!

Flibanserin
Originally designed as an antidepressant, Addyi was repurposed for women who have not gone through menopause and have a low sexual desire. Addyi – generic name Flibanserin – can be used in cases where the cause of low sexual desire is not related to medical disorders, mood or psychiatric disorders or as a side effect from other medications or drugs. Addyi is not a sexual performance enhancer nor should it be used to treat relationship problems. Women who have already gone through menopause should not use Addyi, nor is it suitable for use by men. The causes of low sexual desire in cases treatable with Addyi are likely complicated and certainly not well known. Brain neurotransmitter levels (dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine) likely have a strong influence.
