When you get an infection, many times people do not seem to care that what type they have is specific, but there are many! In this article i want to specifically focus on those pesky infections known as bacterial infections. What are they, and what can YOU do to make sure they are treated properly.

Unlike other types of infections, a bacterial infection is one where a harmful strain of bacteria has been located either on or inside of a person’s body. Now to be clear this can happen anywhere and some of the more common issues you may have heard of are types of bacterial infection. Things like food poisoning, pneumonia, meningitis, etc. are all caused when bad bacteria infects us and causes certain types of distress.

3 Groups of infections

Most commonly the main categories of bacterial infection fall within three different groups. You will either have a bacterial skin infection, a bacterial foodborne infection, of a sexually transmitted bacterial infection.

E. coli and Salmonella

The ones you have probably heard and associate with these types most often are the foodborne types. Things such as E. coli and Salmonella are basically commonplace words in most homes at this time. ingesting a harmful bacteria off of food is usually going to make you very nauseous, cause vomiting, diarrhea, fever, chills, and abdominal pain. This is usually due to the ingestion of raw meats, eggs, and unpasteurized dairy that may have been exposed t otherwise harmful bacteria that thrive on these types of surfaces.

STI (STD)

Now when people think of Sexually transmitted infections on the other hand, they usually do not think bacterial infection but actually some of the more well known STI’s are cause in this way. While there are generally no symptoms associated with these types of infections, STIs in this category can still cause you to have some damages to your reproductive system. Some of the more common STIs that can be caused this way are; Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis. Be sure that before you decide to go and have a wild night on the town that you take the proper precautions to make sure that you are not inviting any other unwanted guests into the bedroom with you!

Streptococcus infections

Finally bacterial skin infections are usually caused by bacteria you probably hear in all those fancy ER shows you watch on TV. Bacteria such at streptococcus or staphylococcus are usually the ones responsible for people getting painful issues such as; Boils, impetigo, folliculitis, and cellulitis.

The one thing these all seem to have in common though is that they can be treated by a nice round of antibiotics, so make sure that if you are suffering from any of these issues that you get to your doctor right away in order to get yourself tested and treated!
