Albendazole For Pinworms

Albenza is a known medication to take if you happen to have pinworms. The treatment doesn’t necessarily kill the eggs of pinworms from just one dose, however. There will be a treatment dosage recommended of a second round of medication of Albendazole that will most likely be what kills more pinworms that are left behind after hatching again after the first initial dosage. This is to ensure that the treatment is effective in getting rid of every trace of the pinworms in every stage of their life if they happen to infect you within your body. The second dosage would normally be done after two more weeks.

Questions

A question that you might want to know the answer to is do children need to take any precautions? Well, if they are under two years old then you have to rely on the doctor’s discretion. They will examine the child and then make up their mind weighing the pros and cons of the child taking it.  Otherwise there are no real precautions for children over the age of two.

Another question might be what if there are more than just one person in the household who has acquired the pinworms in their system. That just should mean that everyone should be taking the medication in the correct way of dosages at the same time to avoid any reinfections. If in case there is any reinfections again then the whole entire process of the dosages will have to be repeated as well, so you might want to try to avoid that by treating everyone in the house at the first sign of pinworms at the earliest time they get it if it is all at once. This helps in prevented multiple treatments that could have been eliminated with proper care.

What are the signs of pinworms?

The biggest give away is the itching. The anus would be the most sensitive spot on the body to show the signs of that. After two or three hours of sleeping in your bed they are most likely to show themselves. If you are brave enough to try removing the eggs in the said area with tape the first thing in the morning after awakening, then that is one thing you might do to help yourself but it might not be something you care to do or even let anyone else do at that time either. Stool samples are not commonly effective at gathering any evidence of the eggs nor the pinworms themselves.

Can pets get them too?

The answer to that question is a definite no. Pets cannot give people or get these pinworms themselves. So Fido or Fluffy are safe. There is no need to take them to the vet for an examination for pinworms.

Who are the biggest targets of pinworms? Children under 18 are the biggest targets. Their caregivers, such as mother or father, are also at risk because they handle the child more than anyone else. That would make sense because of the family contact.
