Kaletra (lopinavir/ritonavir)
Generic Kaltera is the combination of two medications: Lopinavir 200mg and Ritonavir 50mg. The combination drug is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. Although this is not a cure for HIV, it helps decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. It also prevents new HIV complications from happening.
What is Kaltera and What is it Used For
For example, Kaltera will decrease your risk of getting cancer and other new infections. It also will improve your quality of life. Ritonavir increases the levels of lopinavir which helps lopinavir work better.
How to Use Kaltera
A medication guide should have been provided from your pharmacy. Make sure to read that before you start taking lopinavir – ritonavir, and each time you get a refill. The medication should be taken by mouth with or without food, usually once or twice daily. Make sure that you swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush, break, or chew the tablets. The dosage will be completely customized to suit your needs and medical conditions. It is very important that you do not alter the dosage in any way. For the best effect, take this medication at evenly spaced times, or the same time every day.
Also, make sure to not skip any doses. If you take more or less of the drug, or stop taking it all together, even for a short time, it may cause the virus to increase and spread. It will be more difficult to treat at this point, and it will worsen the side effects.
Side Effects of Kaletra
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, gas, headache, and trouble sleeping may occur. It is very important to notify your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of these issues. Side effects will go away with time as your immune system continues to get stronger from the drug. Get medical help right away if you have any of these serious symptoms: unexplained weight loss, severe tiredness, muscle aches or weakness that doesn’t go away, headaches that are severe or don’t go away, joint pain, numbness/tingling of the hands/feet/arms/legs, vision changes, signs of infection (fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, trouble breathing, cough, non-healing skin sores), signs of an overactive thyroid (irritability, nervousness, heat intolerance, fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat, bulging eyes, unusual growth in the neck or thyroid.
Rare side effects
Signs of a certain nerve problem known as Guillain-Barre syndrome, increased thirst, increased urination, confusion, persistent nausea or vomiting, stomach or abdominal pain, yellowing eyes or skin, or dark urine.
In the Case of an Overdose
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms, such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911 immediately. Get medical attention right away if you have any symptoms of a heart attack. Changes in body fat may occur while you are taking this medication (increased fat in the upper back and stomach areas, decreased fat in the arms and legs). This medication may cause an increase in blood fat levels. Cholesterol testing should be done before and occasionally during treatment. You can always report new symptoms and side effects to the Federal Drug Administration. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose to catch up. Keep the medication in the original container at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in your bathroom. Do not flush down the toilet.
Previous research has showed that Kaletra was effective in preventing SARS from maturing and replicating.

I don’t quite know which way to treat HIV, but lately there has been a lot of information released every day and it seems like Kaletra would be the best drug to use if you wanna treat it. We will see with time, and hopefully it all goes well.
