Coronavirus Cases Surge As Governments Scramble For A Cure

Each day the articles and news stories surrounding the new Coronavirus (Covoid-19) seem to be getting more and more common. The big burning question on everyone’s mind, however, is when we are going to have an effective treatment to get rid of the virus once and for all. A valid question, especially if you fall in the small range of people that are susceptible to potentially die from this illness since having no way to treat it is a bad thing.

What is Covid-19

Covid-19 is a disease that we haven’t had the chance to see sweep the world in quite some time, I think the last time might have been ebola? or the Zika virus? and like those other diseases Covid-19 will eventually fade into the limelight as well, but first we do have to treat it. That is where, well nothing comes in yet, there is still no treatable cure for the Coronavirus at this time unfortunately. There is however a plan being tested by those officials in China that are determined to give us a shred of hope in this world. The marketed chemicals Lopinavir and Ritonavir, also known as Kaletra, is currently being tried out as a potential Coronavirus treatment. While not a cure, doctors do have some inklings that this could help reduce and show improvements in many of the people who are currently suffering from the disease.

The good news is that Kaletra has been on the market for quite some time now as a treatment for HIV, so unlike the current research being done, this medication won’t cost billions in taxpayer dollars to make.

Medicines with alternative uses

So why on earth would doctors choose to start believing that Kaletra could work on those who suffer from the vicious Covid-19 breakout? well… the answer is kind of simple, and that is because it worked on the last Coronavirus to break out in China, SARS. Also known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome broke out quite some time ago in China, and probably through trial and error back then they were able to discover that the Coronavirus at that time was very treatable by the use of Kaletra and many people were able to show a marked improvement shortly after an administration of the drug.

Will Kaletra treat Covid-19

Does that mean it will work on Covid-19? no not necessarily, and that is why Kaletra is in the testing stages, in order to discover if this is the type of thing that can be used twice to help out with a monstrous pandemic. It is safe to say that at this time, in the hospitals of Wuhan itself, which is ground zero to the virus they are starting clinical trials on patients to see what affect if any this drug will have. All we can do in the meantime is hope and pray that it works so that we can get back to a more normal way of life as soon as possible.

What is the process

Due to the success that Kaletra has had in the past, funding has been pouring in to help support the effort of helping treat patients. Other companies such a Johnson & Johnson have even started sending over their own products like Prezcobix to see if it can have a similar, or even greater, affect to those infected at this time. Thanks to the effective efforts of Kaletra in the past, people can at least hold on to hope a little while longer.

Two main components

Kaletra itself is said to be equipped with two antiviral components, these are the chemicals that are known as Lopinavir and Ritonavir, and these protease inhibitors are what we designed to block the spread of HIV’s viral replication process in other patients. The science is sound on this one, as doctors simply believe that the drug will stop viral replication in covid-19 as well. Keep as up to date as you can on and breaking news because I am sure that these words are not the last ones that you will be reading when it comes to the Coronavirus. And please if you do feel that you have come down with the virus get checked out and make sure to stay home for several weeks to reduce the spread.

Generic Kaltera is the combination of two medications: Lopinavir 200mg and Ritonavir 50mg. The combination drug is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. Although this is not a cure for HIV, it helps decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. It also prevents new HIV complications from happening.
