Prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is one of the most terrifying things you can discover when you visit your doctor. It’s news you hope you never hear. It’s estimated that about 1 in 9 men will develop it in their lifetime, and about 80% of those who reach the age of 80 will have some form of prostate cancer. The goal of this article is to show you some of the most important stages of prostate cancer so that you can prevent it and remove it early.

Stages of Prostate Cancer

The early stages of prostate cancer may include a burning sensation when a person tries to urinate. Sometimes a tumor may develop that blocks part of the urethra and slows the flow of urine. The obstruction of the flow and the effort the person makes to urinate can cause a burning sensation. Along with difficulty urinating, there is the possibility of urinating more frequently at night.Early stages of prostate cancer are known to cause men to urinate more frequently. There are times when the flow does not stop. The loss of control that results from this indicates that something is wrong and that prostate cancer may be present.
More advanced stages of prostate cancer include swelling, usually in the lower body. As the cancer begins to grow, it forms small lumps near the bones. These lumps create significant swelling that can make even walking a painful process. Also, because these tumors tend to grow near bones, there is bone pain in addition to swelling and it does not subside with rest. If it is severe enough, it can even lead to fractures.
The worst and final stage of prostate cancer is when it starts to spread outside the prostate area. In the medical world, spread outside the prostate area is considered metastasis. Once someone reaches this stage, prostate cancer is a certainty. Unfortunately, at this level, things are very serious and important decisions must be made to prevent things from getting even worse.

Treatment

It is important to know the stage you are in if you are concerned that you have prostate cancer.

Obviously the sooner the better

I had someone close to me who was successfully cured of it because they were found and treated early. There are many treatments available such as surgery, hormone therapy and chemotherapy. There will also be many lifestyle changes that will be needed including a better diet and more exercise. But all of these will be necessary once the symptoms clear up. If any of these sound familiar to you it might be worth seeing your doctor for a check-up.
